Job market for WHNP

hello, i am a nursing student in va. i am seriously considering a grad. program for women's health nurse practitioner. I have heard that there is not really a market for them anymore and that the pay is very bad? I dont know if that is true or if thta is just my area? just wondering what others had experienced or heard?

I am a WHNP in the VA Beach area and the market here is better than most places. Most positions are word of mouth. The physicians here are becoming more receptive to NPs. I lived in Southern Maryland for 3 yrs and it was very PA dominated. Yes, the pay isn't great but does get somewhat better with time. Good luck!

Findurpassion -- thanks for your post. I also live in Southern MD and am impressed to hear this about VA Beach. Relocating in a couple of years and looking for a good job market and am hearing great things about VA Beach. Are you in a doc's office or hospital?
