I have decided to go the Family NP route. Now I'm going to work on my application essay. I know personally my own intentions and plan to state those of course. Is there anything important the admissions people want to hear that I should consider writing about? Thanks.

Granted, I am not on an admission board, but I think the essay if just to see who you are, your goals and reasons for wanting to be a FNP. I did jsut that. I wrote a little history of my nursing career (where I had been and experience), why I wanted to be a FNP and also my goals as a FNP. It was nothing to fancy. I acutally thought it was kind of dry because I was unsure of what the admissions people wanted to read. They pay attention to other stuff too like grades as a BSN, and your references, etc.. Don't stress, I got in on the first try with my essay, so dont stress over it. Best of luck in your mission.

I attended a program where the form for the application essay has some specific questions to help guide the prospective student in composing the essay and making sure thoughts about what the school wants to know are conveyed. Your institution might be different but I am posting a pdf copy of the form my school used here if you'd like to look at it: http://www.nursing.wayne.edu/pdf/MSNGoalsStatement.pdf
