Prep for house supervisor interview

Specializes in Emergency, Flight Nursing.

I am interviewing on tuesday for a part time house supervisor position at the level 1 trauma hospital I currently work at. I assume I will get questions about service recovery, accepting outside transfers and staffing. What other kinds of questions should I expect?

A little about I have been a nurse for 9 years. 6 yrs ER, 2yr L/D at a smaller hospital 6mon ICU at the level 1. 6 yrs flight nursing with the military. I have been charge nurse in the ED and labor and delivery.

Specializes in Hospice, corrections, psychiatry, rehab, LTC.

I would expect hypothetical questions about low staffing, responses to internal and external emergencies and possibly resolving staff/staff or staff/patient, staff/visitor conflicts. If you are in an area that experiences severe weather (tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, flooding, etc.) you may be asked what you might to to prepare for such an event and what actions you would take to ensure safety. You might be asked what you would do if a floor nurse calls a doctor about a critical situation and the doctor either doesn't respond or doesn't give instructions that are of any use.

From what you have said, you seem well prepared for the position in terms of experience. Good luck.
