Soon to be grad nurse/moving to NC

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hello!

I'm a current nursing student in Texas. I will be graduating in May of 2009, and I will be getting married June 6, 2009. We will be moving to Charlotte, NC for a great job for her. Due to the fact that I'll be a RN, I can be more flexible with my job placement.

I have been looking into the two major hospitals systems in Charlotte. My plans are to do general/med surg for 2-3 years, and return to college for my Family NP with psych.

I was wondering how much grad. BSN RN will get paid on avg. in that area. I'm not expecting super high starting pay, but I'm just wondering so we are figure out how much we can afford for apartments.

Thanks

Anthony

Hey!

I don't have the information that you're looking for but just wanted to let you know that I'll be a new grad soon (Dec) and have been trying to find out the same info...without any luck :-( I found some old posts about salary but haven't found any recent information.

Specializes in ER.

I think Charlotte area hospitals pay approximately 20-21 dollars an hour for new grads. (Presby and CMC) I think CMC also will pay about $3000 relocation assistance too. Hope that helps.

Specializes in Home Health, Progressive Care, NICU.

The new grad rate at CMC is 19.65 and then 20.11 after 90 days. There is a shift diff of $4 if you work nights and an additional $3 if you work on the weekends. There is also a weekender program which is like $34/hr but its only considered part time and you have to have at least a year of experience.

Good luck with school!

Thank you everyone for the input. With us moving so far, I don't want to be blind or have unrealistic views on what i will be making as an RN. This will help us out a lot!
