Hi! I was accepted to the CRIBN 2014 Cohort in Charlotte as well. I will be attending Carolina College of Health Sciences. I would also love to connect with other accepted students and students in the cohorts ahead of us!

YAY! Good for you. I have no clue just yet. I am attending the orientation for new nursing students at Gaston College next week. I am assuming George will be contacting us when we need to attend the UNCC orientation. I am hoping to speak with a counselor too at Gaston to see what I need for the Fall semester. All very exciting.

Yep no news for CCHS orientation yet and I'm sure I'm driving George nuts contacting him for more information. I know the UNCC orientation was the second Friday in July last year so my guess it will be around then.

Do you know how financial aid works for us since we are technically enrolled at two schools?

What are you like? Meaning, I'm 24 and this will be my second bachelors and so I think I'm fairly non-traditional. I'm Molly by the way!

Hi Molly - I'm Grace. I'm 31 and this will be my second degree as well. I ask for financial aid for both schools but only think we need the first school as it says on the uncc site. I emailed him as well. I need a clear cut schedule of what I need to take. I found out today I need chemistry, stat maybe and algebra. I am almost done with Microbiology and A&P I. I need A&P II which I'm planning on taking in the Fall. What does your schedule look like?

You are way ahead of me!

I have no idea what my schedule will be like. Depending on how my credits transfer, I've already taken sociology, psychology, math, English, and humanities electives. Sciences will likely be what I'm taking this semester. Thinking A and P I and micro or chem. Plus other courses he thinks I need.

I wish we knew more, because I feel like we are going to be behind the other students not part of our program in scheduling etc.

I totally agree with the schedule conflict. I am hoping we will be able to get into classes for the Fall. Ok you made me feel better. I thought I needed these courses before I started. I already have English, pysch, and socio as well. I think we start taking nursing courses in the fall so it will be a tough schedule to add the other classes as well. I am wondering if you could sign up for a summer course and take one over the summer. Have you taken the CNA course yet? I am set to take that this summer at SPCC.

Nope haven't taken the cna course yet, might take it through one of the random schools that allows it as a night class.

It is to my understanding that this first year is just prerequisites and the cna program etc; we are not technically in the nursing program at our respected community school just guaranteed a spot for next fall. I could be incorrect but I'm fairly certain it's like this: year one is pre requisites, year two and three will be nursing courses and any leftover classes we need for bsn that aren't nursing, then we can take nclex and can then work as a nurse with our ASN, and lastly, year four is while we are working (if we want) do the ASN to bsn program through uncc online.

You are totally correct. This year is for pre-reqs. We also have to dually enroll at UNCC and take courses while we are at our respective nursing program. Since my pre-reqs will be out of the way I am looking into taking Spanish as well. We are in it for the long haul. SPCC offers a night class by the way. They just had a spot open up for this summer but it would start in two weeks if you are ready for that. I am confused as to why they would say we need to take a class at UNCC while we are at the community college and then give us a year to complete our pre-reqs.

For taking courses at uncc it is to secure our spot in the BSN program for 2017 I believe and also for the other students who haven't taken as many courses as us, it allows them to take the prereqs needed for the BSN without getting to swamped. For the purpose of financial aid etc, I need to wait until the fall until I take the CNA course but I really appreciate you telling me about it!
