Good luck if you are applying!!!!!!!!!!!!

justwandering... did you graduate in Dec or this semester??? I haven't received such a letter, however, I don't understand why they would hold on to my application for three months and not yours?!? Or maybe my rejection letter is still in the mail... :crying2: Do you have any idea as to why? I'm really sorry; try to keep your head up and believe that perhaps you were not meant to begin your nursing career with CMC, and instead, were meant for much bigger and better things!!! ;)

Your suggestions are great and give those of us who need it, much hope! Best of luck to you as well... and try to stay positive!!!

Cam -I will graduate in May. The only reason I can think of for being rejected w/o an interview is that they have a lot of students who do their clinical rotations there. CPCC, UNCC, Mercy School of Nursing, and their own College of Health Sciences. Plus, Queens College students do some clinical hours there too. I wonder if those students have preference over others so they don't have space to hire many "outsiders." I would be interested to hear from new grads who did not go to one of the above schools who get accepted. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am sure we will end up where we were meant to be.

I actually went to school out-of-state, so unfortunately (to my disadvantage), I'm not at all affiliated, nor do I have any connections to any of the hospitals in or near CLT. I moved to NC in December because of my husband's job. I've gotten to know a few staff nurses through the months of living here, but that hasn't proved to be helpful. So I started volunteering at various medical and non-medical places. I applied to Presby back in November and immediately received a call back telling me they were only hiring "internally" and that perhaps after January they would begin hiring external candidates (If spots were still available). Well, I did call back in January (... and February, and March, etc.) and their response was they were getting ready to only hire/interview May 2010 graduates... and thus began another circle of answers that led to N O W H E R E!!! :uhoh3: ...And somehow it doesn't even matter that I passed the boards! They would rather hire someone who... 1.) hasn't graduated yet... 2.) hasn't scheduled nor taken the boards. So crazy to me!

On a positive note, I do believe it will all work out. It just may not be in the way I expect it to start out. :)

Cam-Not sure where in Charlotte you live, but Palmetto Health in Columbia, SC has new grad positions listed for 2 hospitals (both in Columbia). It is about 1 1/2 hrs from southwest Charlotte (and Pineville area) on Mapquest, but it is an easy drive and I usually get there (Columbia) in about an hour. Hopefully, you will get in at CMC but, if not, you may want to try there too.

I did my NCLEX prep at UNC-Charlotte last May. I was told by several of the graduating BSN graduates there that CMC is only hiring BSN candidates in hope of obtaining their Magnet status (A national recognition). I've confirmed that through other sources.

Overall, CMC is difficult for reasons I can't understand. I know 17-year MSN RNs who can't get an interview ANYWHERE in the CMC system after submitting applications on their site and calling for several months. I don't know if their HR department is just messed up or what. Don't feel bad though--you aren't the only one!;)

I live in Alabama and will graduate in August, I saw that CMC has a deadline for New Grad positions, but I didn't see anything on the Presbyterian web site. I can't get in touch with anyone at Presbyterian, has anyone else had that problem? I'm finding it increasingly more difficult to find a job (or even an interview!) in the Charlotte area as a new grad. Should I work in Alabama until I'm no longer a "new grad" and try to find a job in Charlotte, or is that just as hard?? Help!!!
