Here is what I am considering of turning in. Please give me some feedback. Thanks.

I have always wanted to work in health care. I feel that it takes a special kind of person to work in this field. The nursing field didn't interest me at first; however, as I began my career as a Respiratory Therapist, it began to intrigue me the kinds of things that nurses do. It made me realize that there is more to nursing than just giving medications and monitoring vital signs. There are so many things that a nurse can do and specialize; it is a very diverse field. I made it my goal to go to nursing school and become a nurse. I want to be a nurse because it is rewarding, challenging, and a nurse is a vital resource in our society.

First, nursing is a very a rewarding career. A nurse can get the personal satisfaction of helping and caring for patients. A tender holistic touch to the ill can provide much needed relief from suffering. How a nurse helps and provides patient care can really impact on the healing process of the individual being cared for, whether in the acute or critical care setting. I have seen many good outcomes based on the care of nurses and how they provided it. There is no better reward than knowing that you made a difference or positive impact in helping and caring for a patient. It is both rewarding and fulfilling to be needed.

Also, I became interested in nursing for its challenges in a fast paced environment. As technology becomes more complex in the medical setting, a nurse has to learn new things and adapt to the daily changes in this growing field. The advances in technology allow the nurse to learn and apply critical thinking skills in the management and care for patients in a critical setting or an ongoing basis. There can be a complex patient with many issues, it is the responsibility of the nurse to inform and relay changes to doctors and other health care providers that are caring for that patient. A nurse is the eyes and ears for doctors. In addition, a nurse is a life-long learner, and education never ceases. It is this challenge that I look forward to when becoming a nurse.

Finally, a nurse is a vital resource for the community. Wherever you go a nurse is always needed. Nowadays, nurses are in high demand and short in supply. There are many prospective employers seeking a qualified and skilled nurse. This can't be said for too many careers or jobs out there. Nurses are needed everywhere, whether in hospitals, schools, clinics, or research centers. I want to be a nurse for the endless possibilities it offers. It allows me to be a general nurse or specialize in a field that I am interested in. Nursing provides that mobility and branching off of different areas in the health care setting.

I want to be a nurse so I can make a difference in the lives that I touch. I want to be able to reap the rewards and challenges that many nurses obtain in this ever growing and complex field. Also, I want to be able to include myself as a resource for the community. At the end of the day, I want to be able to say that I have made an impact in the community and the lives of people that I have cared for.
