First NICU job

Specialties NICU

Hello Everyone,

I'm a recent new grad may 2009, passed boards in August. I started my first job in the nicu in October. My first nicu job didnt go very well. Although I was disappointed and hurt. I realized that this is a time for growing. My ultimate goal is to be a neonatal practioner or clinical coordinator . My expirence was not a great learning expirence based on the enviorment and precpeptors who were not so welcoming. I tried my best to make things work out but I relized that it was best not to stay in that kind of enviorment. I was working at a great teaching hospital in the nyc areabut the staff and support was not there. I'm under a work commitment so I'm being transfered to another unit preferably pediatrics or a mother baby unit. Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you regain your confidence? and what was like starting over in another unit. Any input would be fantastic.

old thread I see! 10 years later... but very similar to my situation now...

I was a peds home care nurse transitioned to a NICU but didn't survive orientation either? I feel like a failure since all the others survived orientation....not sure if OP ever found another NICU job?
