Job market for RNs anywhere in upstate NY?

U.S.A. New York

Hey all! Hoping to get an idea of what the job market looks like outside of the NYC/metropolitan area. I have a friend who just finished an ADN program in Rochester and was hired immediately before even taking her NCLEX, but I wasn't sure if that was still a typical thing or if she got lucky. Can anyone shed any insight? I'm mostly interested in the Albany/Capital region, and in the Buffalo region. Specifically interested in new grad opportunities, but would love to hear about the market in general as well. I already know that the market in NYC is impossible- hence why I'm looking into moving!

I tried applying to quite a few hospitals upstate myself without any luck. I applied all the way up to cooperstown, ny which is about 5 hours away from the city. good luck in your search the market is rough everywhere for new grads and will only get worse as more graduate =/ I heard buffalo has opportunities but I don't know how much truth there is to that, I personally did not apply because I can't deal with the massive amounts of snow they get. If i were you i would apply to the hospitals I'm interested in and see if you get a call, don't move until you have accepted a position.
