TMCC Fall 2011

U.S.A. Nevada

Does anyone have any idea when they will or if they have begun sending out the acceptance letters for the Fall? Its crazy to me that they wait so long to tell you. Makes it hard to plan!

How long have youbeen in Truckee?? I probably know you :) I used to live up there.

Graduated in 1999 from Truckee High-

I graduated in 90 from North Tahoe :) Lived in Truckee for a few years before I moved down here.

Ah- I love it here, but it makes going to school a bit on the pricey side! I did all my prereq's in Rocklin. I won't be moving to Reno or Carson for school; I don't want the kids to have to change schools...

Drive isnt bad though! I worked up there until Dec of last year and so reverse commuted for the last several years. Never bothered me much and most likely you will have to do it when you graduate anyways unless you get lucky and can get on at Tahoe Forest. I have several friends who work at Renown and live in Glenshire or Sierra Meadows..... I actually did the commute from Tahoe City to TMCC when I first started my nursing prereqs.....a bazillion years ago!

I would much rather commute to Reno than Sacramento again! I hope I get accepted to TMCC so I don't have to drive to Carson. I know it's not too bad, but the mileage is going to kill my car! I live on Donner Lake, so it will take about 40 minutes- It will be a few years of experience before I could apply to TFH- I plan on getting my MSN (FNP) and hopefully end up in Truckee.

HI, I just read your conversation and just wanted to add to it the things I heard (which could mean nothing because everyone hears something different). I heard that TMCC has already sent out the rejection letters to those who don't qualify for the program (did not finish prerequisites, etc.), and that they will be mailing out acceptance letters for the fall semesters mid-July. Acceptance letters for the spring semester will be sent out late August. I'm not sure where the rest of the rejection letters fit in. I also heard that everyone that met the requirements and applied last year did get in. I think it is different this year because of the budget cuts and more people trying to get in. I wish you both luck! Hopefully we hear something soon :)

I heard the same as KK, in fact one I just received a phone call informing me that "quite a few" rejection letters have been sent out, but I'm not sure whether those are to students who qualified but didn't make the cut. . . or those who didn't qualify but applied anyway.

I was first told beginning of July was when letters would be sent, now I hear mid-July to end of July. Fingers crossed everyone!

Just got off the phone with the Nursing department, letters for both Fall 2011, and Spring 2012 will be sent either this week or the next for sure. They will be sent together, and not separately. She also stated that rejection letters had been sent to those who didn't qualify, but not those who aren't in, as they are waiting for replies from the first set of students to make sure they fill the classes.

I wish everyone the best of luck!

Well being the impatient person I am ...I called today and asked and whoever I spoke to said "we are going to try to have them

Out by end of July". But said it could possibly be in august. I didn't ask anything else though because she sounded cranky like they know everyone is dying to know but they are having hard time getting it done. Seems to me like ut isn't that hard to add up two numbers and put them in order. Lol. I guess I should just be happy that I haven't received a rejection letter yet :)

Why would anyone apply without having met the requirements?

Bio- you must be nicer than me cause you seem to have gotten better info!! Did you happen to ask how many applications there were??

Reno- I asked how many apps came in back in June and was told 285. . .

As for people applying without the qualifications, I don't understand it either but it seems par for the course. I heard that in the past "all qualified applicants" were admitted (back when the fast-track was still in effect). . . which leads me to believe that some of these other folks may not have all of the pre-reqs or something to that effect.

I tried to be as nice as possible, as I know they're hustling their butts off. . . but I also think I called right after her lunch break, because she was friendly :0)

Gosh I can't wait to find out!
