RN pay: Reno vs Las Vegas (experienced nurses)

U.S.A. Nevada

Hello everybody!

I'm relocating and have important questions.

How much do RN's earn with 15+ years experience -- including supervisory-- in Reno and Las Vegas. I've worked all units and have been a nursing supervisor for 8 years? Do any of these hospitals offer big weekend and night differentials?

Is Renown Health union?

Thank you :nuke:

Renown Health is union, represented by SEIU.

I can't really tell you how much someone with 15 years experience makes, but I can tell you that new graduate floor nurses make $27.21. There is a night differential of 10%.

I know that there are openings for supervisor positions in the trauma and med/surg intensive care units if you're interested in staying in that role.

Reno1978, when you say $27.21 for new 'graduate' floor nurses, do you mean nurses with a graduate- advanced degree (A Masters) or did you just mean new nurses right out of school ? $27.21 does seem like quite a bit for a new nurse. That's awesome.

I'm talking about new RN from ADN or BSN program with no experience. That's the current starting rate at Renown in Reno.

Wow, that's great. Someone had told me otherwise ($24.+)Thanks for sharing that information

And take into consideration that on average, Renown is one of the lower paying facilities around. I know Carson Tahoe pays significantly more (I went from $28.26/hour to just over $30/hour when I switched jobs). The benefits aren't too bad, especially their 401k program. A colleague of mine who used to be the supervisor of the cardiac intensive care unit left nursing for years and just recently returned to work in an outpatient facility at $38/hour so I'm sure you would make at least that much.
