Mu husband wants to move to Montana

U.S.A. Montana

Published

Hello all Montana nurses. My name is Wendy and I am from West Virginia. My husband has always fantasized about moving to Montana.

Can you provide me with some information like:

What is the pay like for an RN with 2 years psych experience, 1 year critical care pediatrics, 6 months correctional nursing, 1 year of geriatiric experience?

I am a psych nurse, and would really like to remain in the field. Are there plenty of outpatient clinics for mental health?

Is there a demand for nurses in Montana?

What is the cost of living like there?

What is the weather like there, do you have 4 seasons?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thank! :kiss

I've just joined this site and have lived in Montana about a year. We moved here for my husband's job. I was in CO and worked at a very wonderful hospital. It's lovely here but let me just the say the nursing wages suck! I took a $12/hr pay cut. If you not had a nursing job elsewhere it won't be as shocking. I was not prepared for it however. There are some nice perks about living here but nursing isn't great. :uhoh21:

I live in Montana, by choice, but have to work as a nurse traveler to make any money. The pay is poor here. And the winters are long and cold, so you have to like winter. It is beautiful here, but the cost of living is high (highest state income taxes in the US) along with housing. Best of luck.
