New Grad, St. John's?

Hey,

I will be graduating from nursing school in central Missouri in May and I have looked at, and contacted a ton of hospitals. One hospital I contacted was St. John's in Springfield. I was impressed with what I saw on their website. I am aware it is a wonderful facility but I wanted to see what you guys felt about it as a whole. I am looking to start there as a new grad. One of the reasons I am interested is I wish to go to CRNA school eventually and I think working at a place like St. John's would really make me stand out. Any input is appreciated. I work for st.johns' in washington, and it is a wonderful place to work. Sisters of mercy health systems are renowed. They are one of the top paying w/ excellent benefits, and i think it would serve you well to work there and build up your 2 years in the icu/critical care needed to be accepted into a crna program. Check out webster's program too, I have a friend who did her homework on crna schools, and found that one to be the best out of all the others and she isn't even from missouri.

Thank you so much for your input. The hospital is gigantic down there, which is just what I want. They also sent me a recruiting packet and the benefits were unbelievable from what I read, but I just wanted some input from someone who at least worked in the system. Thank you

I go to the OTHER nursing school in Springfield, but I work as a PCA at St. Johns. I have only good things to say about the hospital. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

The nurses I work with on med-surg are great. The only other areas I am familiar with are L&D, NICU and Peds. Those are from the perspective of a patient or parent of a patient, but everyone was wonderful.

I think it varies by department, but you get at least 12 weeks with a preceptor. At least that is what I have been told....

I'm a current St. John's RN - brand new actually. I just passed NCLEX on Feb. 24. I love it there. Good luck in your interview!
