Macomb Community College - 2012 HESI

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Well, another year means another time for more score updates. I am getting ready to take my HESI in a couple weeks to apply for the 2012 Nursing Program and I must say I am really beginning to get nervous! Thanks to their recent addition of HHSC-1040 (right before I was apply :banghead:) I am just curious how everyone did, and what was it like this year? I have no clue what to expect and I have been searching forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am really not worried about the Math or Grammar sections. I'm more worried about the Vocabulary, Reading, and A&P section that they added. Any advice would be great. I already have the Evolve HESI book that I have been reviewing from for the past couple of months. I'm still just really nervous.

I don't have a HESI score yet, but my GPA to apply for the program is: 3.925.

Again, any advice would be grand!

Yeah, i've been reading everyone's comments...calculated my rank and i'm at 93 . what does that mean though?

When you are accepted into the program you are ranked with your fellow students - your rank is based on the combo score of your GPA and Hesi. Your ranking determines what your start date is (August, October, January, March), so for example #1-40 starts in August, 41-80 October, etc. You wont be able to find out your ranking until you get your acceptance letter into the program (we found out at the end of April).

Thank you so much for all your explanatios! They have been very helpful...and now just nervously waiting! Ahhhhhh lol

I've read previous posts from members and it's so random who gets in and who doesn't! One of my friends told me that she talked to a counselor and they told her that a combine score from the GPA and HESI, the lowest score they took was 3.4...not sure if that makes sense. But after I thought about it, I'm guessing you'll have to convert your HESI score into a GPA score then add it to your GPA and divide by 2...that will give you a decimal #. I don't know if that's right, but it gave me an idea of what she was trying to explain to me.

They use this "formula" and rank people by their score. They then take the top 160 ish people.

((Gpa x 25)/2)+ (hesi / 2)

For example, a 4.0 with an 80 hesi would have a score of 90.

Hello- Does anyone out there understand how the financial aid works with the nursing program? The program starts out at 9 credits (I'm starting January) from Jan until May and my loan is valid until May 11th. Does this mean that I have to reapply after that? Will I have to use all the money within that time or do they issue a check for remaining money. It is really confusing to me and I just tried to call the financial aid office not realizing they were closed until the 2nd...registration day. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you reapply every sememester and whatever money you don't use you do get a check for I believe. I know for me between classes and books I didn't get enough to cover it all (I got the Stafford Loan). If you go to Macomb's website you can find out some stuff on there and studentloans.gov is the main website. Have you already applied for this semester?

Can someone please help me! :) I'm trying to do the ACE passport online registration and I don't have the schools ID. Does anyone have Macombs ID? I thought I remember seeing it in the paperwork they sent us but I'm looking through all of the papers I have and can't find it anywhere. Please help!

I tried to call the school to get it but of course they're closed until the 2nd. :(

Thank you so much!!! One more quick question. Did you sew your patches on? Wondered what the best way to apply them is.

I did apply and got my letter. I just get nervous that I may not understand something correctly. I was thinking that the amount I was granted was for an entire year (lol). What a relief! Did you get a Macomb One card or is it just on your account? You don't have to have a Macomb One card, do you?

Are you in the program now? We got an email from the school with our login information.

The money is in your account on the Macomb One card I think. This is my first sememster using financial aid so I'm not 100% sure.

For the patches I bought the ones from the Lab so they were already sewn on. But yes I would say to sew them on, not sure if they're iron on or not?
