Macomb Community College (HHSC-1040)

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi,

I am attending MCC, and would like to major in nursing. I just learned that a new pre-requisite, HHSC-1040 (introduction to nursing), must be taken before February 15th, 2012 admission. If anyone has taken this class, could you give me an overview as to what the class is about.

Thank you,

Kay

i am taking it right now.

its a pretty straight forward class....your grade is based on 100pts...so there is really no room for messing around.

its basically just about nursing in general. she talks about ethics, salaries, different specialties. its pretty interesting.

Hi RosinskiL85,

Thanks for your reply. Is there really a math book required for this class? If so, how in depth is the math for this class? Is there a lot of presentation involved? Overall, was the class hard?

Thanks in advance,

Kay

Yes, the Kee math book is required and you will use it but the teacher does not teach from it. You are on your own for the assignments and you will be tested on it. For 1040 the math consists of fractions, metrics and equivalents and such. You will use this book throughout the entire nursing program. The first semester in the program will focus on drug calculations and metrics. Every 8 weeks you will have a math test which must be passed with 100%.

1040 did have a couple group projects/presentations - nothing too hard though.

Could you please provide me the the ISBN number for the math book that was used in this class. At MCC the book cost $104, and I would like to look on Amazon to see if it is cheater.

Thanks
