Goal Statement for OU Accelerated-Second Degree Program

U.S.A. Michigan

I am applying for the Second Degree Program at OU and the only thing that I need to complete at this point is the goal statement. They want it to be typed 500-1000 words. I would like to know from anyone that is applying or have applied. Does the statement have to be doubled spaced or can it be singled spaced? It does not state that on the application.

Also, what did you all write about? I have such a hard time with these goal statements I would appreciate any suggestions anyone may have.

I'd assume double spaced since that is pretty standard. If it's not specified, always double space. If you did your essay single spaced, I think the admissions person who had to read so many words crunched together may not look to favorably on your application :p I don't have any advice since I didn't have to write one. Just be honest and be yourself. Try not to think about it too hard. They merely want to get a sense of who you are, and I don't think the essay is the end all be all for your application. Read your essay over carefully for errors, and you should have at least a few others proofread it as well. Good luck! If you write from the heart, it won't be wrong.

Hey there WSK;

We spoke before I just found out that Wayne State is going to add back the personal statement as part of the admissions process for the CD-2 program. I'm not sure about the traditional program.

That's great! I'm glad Wayne decided to do that-- now you get to use your one essay for both applications. I really think that personal statements are so important and I'm glad Wayne did decide to reincorporate them. I submitted one with my app even though it wasn't even required because I feel it really gives admissions the chance to know you-- and it worked! Good luck on your applications ChristinaJoy and keep us posted! I'm sure you're essay will be great (and I'm secretly hoping that you pick wayne)

Christina, I'm pretty sure the goal statement is double spaced. Just write from your heart about why you want to do nursing, I don't recommend saying that it's because of job security and things like that.. Hope this helps.
