Law enforcement to nursing

Nurses Men

Published

I'm thinking about a career change. Is there anyone here that has changed careers from law enforcement to nursing? If so, can you shed some light on the transition, what to expect? I've got a B.S. in C.J..

Thanks

Go for it! I was in law enforcement for 16 years. All I ever wanted to do was help people and make a difference. Now a days law enforcement doesn't seem to be the place to fulfill that need or desire. Thats why I transitioned to nursing. People actually like me now! lol and every situation is not negative anymore. Feels really good! I do however miss the range and occasional pursuits;)

A mere two more weeks and it will then be all over but for the shouting. I'll then begin about six weeks of intense NCLEX prep.

I've had a choice experience being in the nursing program at our college while my son was completing the police academy right across the hallway from me. Occasionally our ten-minute breaks would coincide, resulting in a mini-family reunion. I really look forward to having an open seat for ride-alongs to maintain my LEO fix.

i worked 11 years law enforcement here with 2 years as a sniper on a hostage negotiation team. i made the career change 15 years ago and never regretted it. you will never feel more appreciated. nursing needs good men.
