I am ready to take my Med Surg cert next week and am so nervous. Any suggestions? I feel like I should have studied more but could really only find one book with sample questions in it. Any suggestions? Give me an idea what the test is like ? Lots of medication questions? I am so afraid I will get tons of Chemo questions..I have never had any experience with it at all. Anything would be appreciated!

thanks!

Unfortunately no one would be able to give you hints to as what's on the test because it's random (like the NCLEX) and an agreement made to not discuss exam questions. When I took my certification exam there was a syllabus of sorts on the web site of the governing body to give you an idea of what the applicants should know and may be tested on.

Good luck and let me know how you do! I will be taking a 10 week study course, offered through my work and then will take it within 3 months time. I'm already nervous!!

I took a course of review and I know the percentages and such. I meant are the real questions similar to what I have reviewed in the books. I found the Kaplan review questions to be much more detailed than the short and vague questions on NCLEX.

I have the AMSN review book of questions and have been studying the areas they are supposed to concentrate in. Its in a few days. I feel like I should know it, since I work it-you know? Well, you find out right away as soon as the test shuts off so I will know right away. I don't know if that is good or bad? Guess it depends if I pass or not. Ha.

CMSRN baby!:):):):):) I passed. the one thing I did not know was how many out of 150 questions you have to get right to pass. Its not like NCLEX-much more complex questions as they are assuming that you are a nurse! It seemed like my 150 questions were really mostly about 2 specific domains and only one was one the top percentage listed. It seemed kind of random actually and very hard. Maybe harder because the questions are very detailed and complex-unlike NCLEX. After taking the test, I don't know if you can really study for it? I don't think my studying helped really. Maybe focus on areas of nursing that you really don't see in your current job. For me that was cardiac as we see pretty much everything else. The test booklet from AMSN that had the questions was helpful as a study tool. You can get it on the website!

Can't wait to put my credentials on my badge for work. WOOT! Good luck to those studying!!:):):):):):):):)
