hello!

does anyone know of a powder i can sprinkle on coloplast stick paste so that it is easier to get it off a patient's skin?

i am a nursing student and today i was caring for my pt's fistula. since he is obese he needs coloplast sticks to create a flat surface between his skin folds for the ostomy bag. when helping my nurse, it took over an hour to get all of the coloplast off this pt's skin. i remember during an earlier clinical rotation having a pt with an ostomy who had the same problem (needed to get the coloplast off) and she would sprinkle a powder on it, causing it to dry right up and making it MUCH easier to remove the pieces. i can't remember what the powder is! i want to say it was just regular stoma powder but do not know for sure. anyone here know what i am talking about??

If you have access to it an Eakin seal is way better that paste. It does not stick to the skin like the paste. To get the paste off let it get really really dry. Otherwise you just gotta keep picking at it.
