:balloons: I am a med/surg nurse and my pay is average in the state of New Jersey. I have been at my jobe for 2.5 yrs and although it is not so great, i like it. the problem now is that i have been offered a position in a different hospital in NY with $12,000/yr MORE and the same benefit. it wiil only take me 30 minutes to drive to NY- 24 MILES. I know money is not everything but, it is tempting. SHOULD I ACCEPT THIS JOB OR NOT? I would like to hear you opinion. :uhoh21:

Hi. I will be graduating this june. I am also living in NJ but am currently commuting to NY for nursing school. I am also thinking whether or not it is worth travelling to NY for a higher salary. I have spoken to a couple of nurses who work in NY but live (30 min away) in NJ. They all tell me that it is worth it. The pay in NY is definitely much higher. My husband is a CPA and he told me that if the difference in salary is at least $4000, then it will be worth it. Regarding transportation, he said that there is a tax refund for that, etc., etc.

By the way, I hope you do not mind me asking, but I was wondering if you could give me a ball park figure on how much NJ hospitals are offering new graduates with associates degree (annual income). The hospital our nursing school is affiliated with are already offering us jobs after we graduate, but I still want to compare it with hospitals in NJ.
