Depo-Provera

Hello everyone, just wondered if anyone knows about the effects of Depo after stopping it or if anyone had a similar situation. I got the Depo-Provera birth control shot for two years, about a year ago I had my last shot, I did not have a period the whole time I was on it, I realize that's normal, In May I had my first one since stopping the shot, it was a very light period, The middle of June I thought I was going to have another one, but since about the 15th I've been having just spotting everday. I do have a doctor's appt. tommorow, but I wasn't sure how concerned I should be about this, I kept thinking it was just cause my hormones weren't back to normal yet, but it's been about a month.

I was on Depo from the age of 18-21 and immediately had spotting only. No periods. I was elated, until I turned 21 and started going out drinking with friends. That's when I gained A LOT of weight (about 20 lbs in a few months).

I had a friend who spent 18 months on the depo shot and also had spotting after ending it. She did eventually get back to regular periods, but not until after 9 months or so off of it.

i used it for 3 months and within those months i was spotting, gained weight and had high blood pressure. when i stopped it i had severe menstruation lasted for nearly a month. i only use it for therapeutic purposes (hormona imbalance)not to control pregnancy.

Was on it for a few years, initially had spotting, then no periods at all...went off it (last shot in Aug 2006), and still have not had a period yet (not that I'm complaining!)
