For anyone in the LPN to RN program currently in Valencia and anyone else that can share their opinion. There are things I need answers to. I recently started a new job at one of the top Orlando hospitals in the area, as a new LPN (which I feel completely grateful for. Some nurses don't get this kind of break so soon out of school); and I start orientation the week of March 6. Well the catch is that I recently got a letter from Valencia saying that I'm on the alternate list and in order for me to continue being on the alternate list I have to attend oreintation on March 10 which leds to my first question. My job doesn't know I applied to the program or else they probably would of never hired me and I don't plan telling them unless crucial. I also plan on switching shifts with coworkers if need be which I did ask about and they were completely fine with it.

1. How do I go about asking for the day off? And what do I say as a excuse? And would/could affect my job?

2. I know the program is online and clinicals are once a week depending on the rotation. But do they give you an option when you can go for example it would be ideal Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Because after my two months training I will be working M-Th.
