LVN/LPN- RN California/ question

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

hello,

i have 1 main question.. has anyone in the state of california opted to do the lvn- rn 30 unit option?

i currently have my associates degree in science from a local community college, and i noticed that the general eduction classes for the lvn- rn are what i have completed. ie: soc, psych, sciences, humanities, excercise wellness.. let's just say i have a ton of units..

i was wondering if anyone has ever been in my same boat, or knew of a person who managed to complete the 30-unit option and ended up getting their adn/asn along with the ability to sit for the boards..

there are a few things you need to know about the 30 unit option.

1. you will not graduate with an adn. you will get a certificate and have earned the right to sit for the rn nclex.

2. if you want to get your bsn, you will not because you do not have an adn. because you do not have a bachelors, you would not be able to get into a generic accelerated bsn degree program.

3. if you take the 30 unit option, your license is valid only in calif. you cannot use your license out of state.

4. i do not know of any nurses who have gone the 30 unit option route. i would certainly ask to see what their experience has been.
