A.S. or certificate for LVN

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I am currently trying to decide if I should attend my local community college and earn an Associate degree for LVN or attend a school such as western career college and earn a certificate for LVN. I am leaning towards western career college because my community college as a waiting list. I was wondering if it matters to employers if an lvn has a degree or a certificate. Thank you.

I havent seen any preference for the LPN/LVN job listings as cert over associates, just for the RN (BSN preferred, bsn or adn accepted)

I'm taking my LPN via accellerated 3 semester classes at our community college and then transferring to another community college to get my accelerated RN w/ another 3 semesters, and then getting my bachelors in nursing down the road. If I had a full 2 years available to me I think I would take the ADN route and get my RN instead of the LPN, but thats just me and a reflection of the opportunities available in my area. Unfortunately, I'm pretty much at the breaking point of my finances just trying to get through my LPN to get my foot in the door somewhere, so I dont have the 2 year option
