No waiting LPN programs in Detroit

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a 12 - 18 month LPN program close to the Detroit area that has no waiting lists. I have poured through some of the forums and found two prominent ones..NEXCARE Institute and Oakland University Riverview. Is there anyone in either of these programs that can just share some info on what the classes/ teachers are like? costs? Does NEXCARE include all supplies, books and scrubs in their fees? I would greatly appreciate your help.:)

Well, I wish you the best of luck with that one....I moved from Detroit last year to Virginia just to go to school, no waiting. The closest school I can think of would be Toledo school of practical nursing $10,000, and Brown Mackie, about $30,000...everything else is either a 2-3 year waiting list, or they are not accredited! Make sure they are accredited....good luck!

Oakland County Community College in Southfield offers the LPN program. They do not have a waiting list. They admit students into their program based on GPA in your prereq courses and their program is not nearly as expensive as Nexcare or Oakland University Riverview Institute. OCC's LPN program is only $3700. You can't beat that price. Both Nexcare and Oakland University are very expensive schools. Nexcare's LPN program is $14,400 and Oakland University is around $11000. I can't remember the exact price, but I do know that it is around $11000. I was told by a counselor there that that would be the price including books and scrubs. Oakland University does not accept financial aid for their lpn program and they want students to pay $7000 out of pocket which is a lot of money. If you call these schools, I am sure they can give you more info.

Thank you both for the information. I have not looked into OCC and will do so right now.

Hello, I would try Nexcare they have a 12month program it begins in August and there is no waiting list although they dont have financial aid now they will starting december so if I were u I'd apply for the next session which is August 2012 because once that finacial aid goes threw they will be overflowing with students becasue of the cost for 1 and them the location. FYI Im a recent grad from Nexcare and I will say there are def alot of downsides to the program but over all you end up with a GREAT CAREER with good money and helping others so the GOOD def OUTWEIGH the BAD!!! Good Luck Doll :nurse:

Could anyone tell me how to apply for Nexcare
