Anyone attending Galen San Antonio?

I'm starting the LVN program at Galen in Jan 2014. Anyone graduated recently or attending on here? It would be nice to pick your brain! :)

Good Luck Jana_co. I personally am excited. Our first two weeks are an eye opener for some i think. I'm super tired but pretty prepared for whatever. It's all very quick paced so you just need to be prepared! We have a lot of tests coming up.

I heard it was fast paced. I know this sounds nerdy but I have already started reviewing my A&P note cards...lol.

Letitbe329 …..Are ya'll doing all three classes at the same time throughout the quarter or one class at a time?

We are fast paced for sure. The 1st week ever one was kind alike....whaaat just happened?! :nailbiting: Now most of us are in getting into some sort of groove.

We take all of the classes, and you'd think it's only 3 but really Fundamentals can be broken down into 3 classes itself: Theory, Lab and Clinicals. So it's pretty much like taking 5 classes. They all have their own instructors and their own tests. One day I have labs or clinicals and the others I have 2 or three classes. It's BUSY. We can have tests on the same day in different classes.

I'm only finishing up my 3rd week but I am NOT scared. I was prepared.

The break rooms are nice and there are plenty of places to hide and study. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm more than happy to help...since no one was there to help me!

Thank you so much! That helps a lot. I have a had a few people I know from other schools tell me to be prepared to have little to no life outside of school. So I am taking the next two months that I am not in school and trying to get my family on some type of system. I had been at UTSA for the past year and half taking mainly sciences and maths as a Bio student so we have a good handle on how much mommy has to study. I am sooooooo fortunate to already have my A&P out of the way so I don't have to take Integrated Human Sciences, or half of the classes on the RN program. But trust me, I put my time in with the other classes..lol. Thank you so much for your help, it is super sweet of you and I would Love to meet you when I start in April:)

Also another quick question. How strict are the instructors about the editions of the books? Ihave found some book but they are the previous edition. I know much doesn't change in regular text books but I wasn't sure about the nursing texts and what the instructors have said on that matter:)

I would get the current editions. We had a few people in our classes have the wrong ones and they STRONGLY suggested the current ones. I think that's the best since medicine is changing all the time. I got some cheap books on half.com. ALSO only buy the books you need one quarter at a time.
