Advice?

Hello all. I will be starting my program in September and I won't know which books to get until they send me the book list at a later date, but I would like to get a jump start on some of the things I will be learning. I am working part time right now as a Pharmacy Technician so in my off-time I would like to start reading/studying material. Where should I start? Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

it depends on your course work. In my LPN program we took 3 courses - A&P, Fundamentals of Nursing I & professional awareness (and a clinical rotation) I would try to get a copy of your states CNA book, our fundamentals of nurses was VERY similar to the CNA course I took and our skills were the same ones i learned in my CNA course. Also ask other people who are farther along for their book maybe u can start on the first few chapters!

Also, I would buy some things while all the back to school stuff is so cheap in stores like WalMart.

-Flashcards -Highlighters - 3 Ring binders - BLUE AND BLACK PENS -Lotttsssssssss of loose leave paper

-3 hole punch -a DURABLE rolling backpack - folders & dividers - lunch box (packing food saves time& $$)

For clinical

-Good clinical bag

-penlight

-BP cuff, stethoscope

- wrist watch

-notepad

ALSO invest in GOOD supportive sneakers, and possibly compression stockings.. when your working and going to school it can kill your feet and trust me those stockings HELP.

i also always keep a mini sani wipes, mini hand sanitizer and lotion with me for clinicals and skills lab.
