waiting to hear from an employer

Nurses LPN/LVN

Hi everyone

I'm still plugging at finding a job. I had an odd interview the other day. The interviewer gave me all kinds of vibes. At times there was an encouraging remark - "bring a notebook with you to take notes while you are in orientation", also noting the openness of what scrubs to wear and my skills were what they were looking for. However, at times I almost found an underlying mockery when there were 2 people interviewing me.

In the end, I felt good walking out, I was told I would know the answer on Friday (2 days after the interview, they needed staffing quickly). This is a small facility and they only had 3 interviews for the job.

Friday came and went, Monday came and went without a call. So, does one assume a no call is an answer ? just move on ?

I cannot easily make a phone call because their number only takes a voicemail while they are in transition.

thanks guys for any input

I would assume that if they haven't called yet, the answer is that you need to move on to other opportunities. Especially if there were only three interviewees for the position. If, for some reason, they are late in getting back to you, it doesn't hurt to look elsewhere in the meantime.

Thank you, it would have been nice to get a response either way since they offered one.

I had the same thing happen. I was promised by the NM that they would give me an answer no matter their decision by that Friday. Never heard from them, even after leaving a follow up message for the NM. There had been some warning signs before that that had me a little hesitant, the no call was my confirmation that I'd dodged a bullet.

It sounds to me like you might have some reservations as well. If you were correct in interpreting the "underlying mockery," do you really want to be employed there???

I walked out of my next interview (different facility) feeling like the NM and I really clicked. No warning signs, much more organized process. Been there for over 2 years now, and I am SO grateful that I did not get that first job!
