Canceled orientation...does it mean I really didn't get the job?

Nurses LPN/LVN

I finished 5 days (My first week of orientation). Today they canceled a orientation date that was supposed to be for a small group of nurses.

I went back to ask them if there was a new schedule I had to follow for new orientation dates and they said. "No it can be about 2 weeks, but I will give you a call."

To me it sounded like they didnt really like me or need me so it was an easy way to say you are out of our system. I was supposedly a new hire going through orientation. I also just got my badge about 2 days ago.

Did I get fired without getting hired?

Doesn't sound like they let you go to me either. I'll bet they had either something happen that caused a delay, or in order to do group orientation they might be required to have so many new hires in a group. Your badge is considered company property, so if you was being let go they would've had you turn it in, and they would've told you they didn't think you would work out.

I know it's easier said than done, but try to relax and wait for them to call you back for orientation. I'm pretty sure you still have your job.

Thanks I will wait and let you guys know if they ever call me back. I am actually very sick at the moment. Had severe diarrhea for 2 days now..so I am happy that I am not working at the moment.

Have you heard anything about orientation?

It was actually all a misunderstanding. There was some confusion with the schedules.

I was supposed to work the week I thought I didn't have orientation. Everything is ok now!

I know that at my facility we have set orientation days-- usually only one or two a month depending on number of new hires.. I wouldn't stress it. They may just not know when the next scheduled day will be.
