I'm starting their CNA program next month. I wanted to get my CNA out of the way in hopes of applying to nursing school at Pitt State in December and starting the program next fall.

They don't seem to have a lot of information available on their website. Can anyone give me more info? Where do the clinicals take place? Do we have to get scrubs before we attend or will they have them available for us? Do we have to buy insurance? Do we need to have the TB test in advance or will they do it and charge us for it? Some courses say we have to send our college transcripts over. I have several, I wonder if that is necessary here.

I've read about several other programs that mention things like this, but I can't find the answers on their site or in their information packet and I'm tired of calling them with questions

Our clinicals were at a LTC in Shawnee, so it wasn't a huge drive difference, and the clinicals were in the morning either at 6:45am or starting at 2pm. You don't need to wear your scrubs to the classes but you will need to buy them for clinicals, which start towards the end of the class. They do offer the TB test there or you can do it where ever you prefer, but they do charge for it (as will anyone else). You won't need to buy insurance, but you need a gait belt and the text books (which they sell, or you can buy elsewhere). They don't need your transcripts, as its not a college class.. but I think for the CMA class you do because they have some additional requirements (but don't quote me on that one). Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions, I took it in April so it's all still pretty fresh :-)

Hi - oh my gosh I am so glad I found this thread when I did.. I am looking for a course and it sounds like this one at Kansas College of Nursing is scheduled to start soon?
Its not too late for me to get in is it?

I am in the BSN program at MidAmerica and just thought that having my CNA would be a good tie in and give me a leg up as far as my patient care skills.

Are you registered for the class KSRN2b??

Hi Gal 2:20, no. didn't work out for me to do after all. Have to take a couple of courses this summer in prep for nursing school in the fall--ADN program at KCKCC. Kansas College of Nursing is definitely where I would have gone if I'd had the time. Good luck!

Melissa - are you taking a weekday, evening, or weekend class?

You said "mid-June" - that would be either the weekend class - June 11- July 31 ?
or one of the evening ones? June 20th- August 1st June 20th- July 25th

I am going to enroll in the weekday one that starts on the 28th.. just because it gets over so quick.

I really wanted to do a day time one also but I work as a sub for the USPS, so if I get called I HAVE to go in (I'm the only sub at my office), and besides I need the work and wouldn't want to refuse any. So, night classes it was for me. I'm not sure which session I'm in, because in one place it says it ends on Aug 1 and another it says Jul 25. So I really don't know, I thought there was just a typo somewhere. Are you sure they are separate sessions?
