Too many nurses in the RP

Before taking up Nursing, students and parents must understand the situation by reading this article. There are no job opportunities waiting due to so many graduates and not enough jobs or visas for the USA. Graduating as a nurse is not a sure ticket to the USA, and they must accept this. The increase in the course requirement to five years will earn the government much money but will also delay the creation of new, jobless nurses.

I second the motion... :)

i definitely agree with you. that's why i still don't understand why everybody's in a hurry for nclex, as if us is their only destination. neither do they know that there could be a more deserving place to be for their professional/career growth. i think for some, they could just have been influenced by what they see around them, which is, nurses are busy for nclex, that's why, they too should also be. lastly, being able to be licensed in us seem to be a prestige for most, and i could also be a reason for the majority.:icon_roll

the me too phenomenon

it's funny seeing all these advertisements in the local paper congratulating this and that new nurse for passing the nle or the nclex. these achievements are a dime a dozen and so are new nurses. they're just new additions to the jobless masses in the pi all scrabbling to get to the usa, which is at the moment closed off for all new grads. nothing to be proud of, really as there are thousands more just like them. they all have a very long way to go, and the destination, if it's the usa is a very, very difficult one, if not next to impossible.

In the first place, what do they really know in pursuing this career? If they only think that this is a ticket to all ports of the world, well, think again. If you really do not intend to work here, with all your passion and pride (not minding the salary grade), you are welcome to take the course. But come on! Can't anyone see the entire picture? If you tend to add youself to the very very very very long list of employed (small number and doesnt include trainees or volunteers), unemployed and underemployed RNs.

NCLEX, as far as I can see nowadays, is believed to as "one step closer to a greener pasture", wherein the nurse who took it (most of them) are only giving more burden, not only to themselves, but to their parents (whom they think are money makers) as well. Peace out to those who got hurt by this message but really REALLY bites...
