Has anyone been to Oman as a RN? I'm presently in Saudi Arabia and have been thinking of moving to Oman. With one-year experience, could I get a hospital RN or RPN job there?

Thanks snoopynurse

Hello i just wanna ask if you've heard about Modern Skin Clinic in Muscat. I'm about to work there but i haven't seen any trace of it in the internet yet. Thank you so much.

What Alina Mathew said is so True:

"Workplace Descrimination:

Nationalisation drive (known as omanisation) of all nursing jobs are currently underway. To attract more nationals to the nursing and other paramedical professions, government is giving more pay and perks to its nationals. You can see that national RN's with no experience and less qualifications are drawing double the amount as salary. They may get flexible duty schedules while you will be paid no overtime and may require to work throughout the weekends, night shifts etc. Here we call it as 'you do the work and they draw the money'. Moreover, they will become your supervisors within a year or two while you will remain as 'staff nurses' without any pay increase or promotions."

My wife has been working in a hospital (i will not disclose the name of the gov't.hosp.) she had her vacation after six months working there, then when she came back to Oman we joined her. It's a nice place to live, but not healthy for children because they can't play outside when it is morning because of the temperature so our two kids (5y.o.& 3y.o girls) they just stay inside, they can go out about 6PM when it is not that hot outside,

If you don't have your own car, it's hard to go from one place to another because the only transportation is the Taxi which you will share it with other travelers. Unlike in the Philippines (were we came from) we have different types of transportation.

What I really hated is the locals get flexible duty schedules, i'll give an example: most of the times when my wife is Off duty they would call her and ask her to go on duty because one of the lazy national staff nurse did not come for duty, and that's not paid it should be overtime or double pay. And there excuse? is they have headache and some minor thingy.

Some of the national nurses have two years diploma in nursing while expat nurses are BSN. And the national nurses recieve double the salary of an expat nurse. Well we have to accept the fact that we are in their country, but sometimes I tell my wife to say no when she is being ask to go on duty on her rest day.

I'm just wondering how the Omani government could omanized their own country.
