Unhappy Nursing in Mexico
Hi.. I saw your post - and I had similar questions myself, so I wrote to the Mexican consulate asking about it - about six months ago. It took forever for them to reply, and they didn't help much - but here it is:

Mexican Embassy, Consular Section, Washington, D. C.
DATE: September 4, 2003

This is in reference to your message whereby you request information on obtaining a temporary work visa, to work in a medical clinic during your visit to Mexico in December of this year.

Please be advised that it is the institution interested in your services which has to apply for you to the Mexican Immigration Authorities (Instituto Nacional de Migración, INM, for its initials in Spanish), in order to get the necessary work permit, even if you are going to volunteer your skills.

Once the permit is granted, it will be e-mailed or faxed to the Mexican Consulate where you would be documented, which will provide you with the specific details as to how and when you would be issued your FM3 visa, as soon as it receives such permit. Therefore, we would suggest you get in touch with the individual or company that might become interested in your services and ask them to contact the INM in order to request the information on the specific requirements to be met to file your application.

I hope this information is useful to you.

Sincerely,

Edgardo Flores Rivas
Consul General

LBV

hope this helps!
