Can blood be withdrawn from piccs

Specializes in NICU.

We only use them for line cultures - our NICU uses a whole lot of 1Fr PICCs these days. You're lucky if you can get the 0.5-1cc you need for a blood culture.

Can you give me some references for the blood draws and turning off any infusions?
