ISU clinicals

Nursing Students Indiana (ISU)

Hi everyone! I'm looking into ISU for the distance learning bridge program, I'm an LPN in Ohio but I recently moved here from PA and I'm class tithe Indiana boarder, would they help me find a clinical site? I don't know many people and work in pediatric home health so it's difficult for me to find my own preceptor. Also how do the clinical's work schedule wise? I'm ready to make this jump and have been since I graduated LPN school! My long term goal is MSN. Also how does it work if you have no pre reqs, I went to lpn school directly after graduating high school and have none. And information is greatly appreciated!

I can't answer all your questions but I can help with a few. I did the LPN-BSN program at ISU back in 2005. For the most part, I enjoyed it. The thing I didn't like was having to find my own clinical sites. I lived in Chicago at the time and tried every hospital and nursing home in my area and NONE would work with me. I ended up doing most of my clinicals at the small hospital that I worked at after graduation as an LPN. It was in a rural area in Michigan so I would go stay with my parents and do 8 12's in a row to complete my time. The only one I couldn't do there was mental health but ISU let me complete that one in Terre Haute. They also offered me a dorm (shared with another student) and community showers but I turned down the offer and chose to stay in a hotel. The instructors were great at ISU and I still keep in touch with many now that I have my MSN and work as full time nursing faculty at a university.
