Hi,

I lived in Northwest, Indiana for 7 years after living in the South Suburbs myself. I can't say enough that it was the best move I ever made.

Northwest Indiana has alot to offer for you and your child/children. I lived in Dyer. That is Lake Central School System. It is a very large school system, but I believe it is very good. There were some apartments in the Northgate area. Dyer is right along the Illinois border so the commute to Illinois was easy. For a while I did agency at Ingalls and the commute was no problem. I also went to U of C for my mother's healthcare alot and depending on the time of day it really wasn't that bad.

Munster is another good option. They are notorious for their outstanding school system and park programs. I would definitely look there as well. I am not sure if they have alot of apartment communities but I do know my cousins all rented duplexes there before they bought their homes. They were really nice Georgian style brick duplexes with an upstairs, basement, garage area for storage with yards. Northwest Indiana has a multitude of options for shopping, eating, and play. The major hospitals in the area are St. Margaret's North & South, and Community Hospital. There is also St. Anthony in Crown Point if you decide to change jobs to be closer. I actually went to nursing school in Illinois and ended up taking my first job in Indiana and moved there.

Let me know if you have any specifics I could help you with.

Sincerely,

Thank you for the helpful information. Your right about the apartment listings, I haven't found any so far for dyer or munster. But I will keep looking online and take a drive to those areas.
