Olivet Nazarene ABSN program vs. Loyola ABSN program/ online vs. conventional program

Hello All,

I am currently looking into accelerated Bachelors of nursing programs in Illinois. I have had advisement appointments with both Loyola school of nursing out of Maywood and Olivet Nazarene University out of Oakbrook. Loyola's program is more conventional with class schedules where as Olivet's is predominantly online coursework with clinicals and hands-on lab work. I was curious to get some input on these programs. I am worried about the dedication and time commitment of online courses since I have heard it can be 3x the time/work of that of conventional class work, but I have never taken an online course either. It would be nice to work from home, and not have to drive 40 min to class everyday though so online classes do seem like a good option as well, even though I am used to conventional class work.

Please, please, please chose Loyola. It's a great school. I will be graduating (hopefully) from Olivet's ABSN program in August. I have a close friend who started at Loyola 5 months after me and she has far surpassed my clinical and "lab" experience. Olivet's program is unorganized and poorly run. There are constant staff changes and more than half of the group is cheating their ways through the program. If you don't have experience with an online class is this definitely not the route to take - I wouldn't recommend this program to people who are MASTERS at online classes. The support and resources are lacking and you teach yourself from a textbook.

Loyola is a very good school - take the offer while you have it!

I attended their ABSN program at Oakbrook campus until they threw me out of the program due to discrimination. I will not apply or attend this school if you are a black student. Many Professors are very discriminatory and show racism when grading your exams. All my black classmates including some of white students will admit to the existence of racism among professors. Do anything possible to avoid this school if your Latino, Hispanic, or Asian.
