LPN Private Schools?

Can someone please tell me all the private LPN schools in the Chicagoland area?

I don't want to wait a few years on a waiting list.

  • American Institute
  • J'Renee Facility
  • Northwestern Institute of Health

How far is CMK from Chicago.. near downtown.. you think? I actually called NWIHT today.. I pass by it every single day taking and picking up my youngest from school.. and the guy on the phone told me that they are going to be opening another location in Skokie in November and that they will have financial aid by the end of the year.. so FASFA..Pell Grant, Gov. loans, etc!!

Hi LB -- I think what you meant in your post is that NWIHT currently does not have the Department of Education's Financial Student Aid (FSA), or Title 4 as it is called. I believe you're right on this...

The FSA allows for both 'grants' (don't have to pay, for the most part) and 'direct loans' (yup! gotta pay up on this one).

However, the term "financial aid" also applies to other types of local and governmental funds such as WIA, Department of Human Services grants, U.S. G.I. Bill, POETS, and IDPH scholarships. I believe NWIHT is able to offer these alternate funding for students who qualify based on current income level.

With regards to FSA-Direct Loans -- Prospective and current students alike forget to realize that though this type of 'financial aid' offer near-immediate funding for courses, it is a "double-edged" sword that needs further consideration. A loan is a loan however one looks at it -- and it needs "repayment" down the line. What good is a job if one has to spend tens of years paying for loans? Right? Perhaps this is the reason why NWIHT has been gun-shy to jump on this type of funding for its students -- It leaves the students with a bigger hole in their pocket than when they came in...

I think the better approach, just like any 'sound' financial practice, is to pay for things (including one's education) with cash, if one has the capacity to do it. If the capacity-to-pay is not there (or severely restricted), then getting the alternate funding mentioned above shouldn't be too difficult to setup.

Due to the above, I think NWIHT has restructured its tuition and funding approach to 'enable' the students to have better choices than getting in deeper financial debts as they pursue their dreams of becoming a Nurse.

Damn really? That sucks! He made it sound as if it was coinsiding with the opening of the Skokie location.. or that they were finally getting it because of the opening of that location. Well, if they don't get it...I definitely can't go there... I don't qualify for private loans..I have no co-signer... and I can't the WIA.. so I guess I'll probably have to take that school off of my list.. :crying2:

Thanks also to you too Hattori! You are seriously a wealth of information and have helped me tremendously in this short time with trying to decide on a school! :)

Oh no,just continue to check up with them.I just remember them telling me that 3 years ago when I went to speak with them..they may actually be getting it now.Good luck!

Has anyone of you taking the LPN at PCCTI Chicago downton location?Can you please tell me your experience about the School.I went there yesterday and inquire about the program.they only have 1 year LPN to finish and the pre reqs are only math,eng. and A&P..and the program cost $14,999.but by Nov.they will raised the fees again to $18,000..But i think its a good choice bcoz of their short program and unlike the other lpn school u need to take the pre reqs like math,eng,psychology,computer,ana&physio 1&2...just the pre reqs will cost more than $5,000.ANY ADVICE????HELP?lol.

Americare just got approved for their RN program. Right now they are giving priority to previous americare grads they have info sessions on the 19 and 20th of this month.

Hey!!!

I am looking at all school options for lpn programs. I did take all my pre reqs at CCC but I know it is not easy to get into any of the nursing programs so Im also looking at private schools. I was wondering if anyone went to a private school (and which one) to get their lpn done first and then was able to get their RN at the CCC??

Any information would be great

HI formerrt I am trying to do the same thing u r meaning get lpn license at private school and then transfer and do the bridge program to get rn. Did u find out anything if it's possible to bridge at any community college?

Where are you getting that information? It's not listed on NLNAC's website. I could be wrong, but I don't even recall them having candidate status.
