The secret is being open

I have only been a hospice nurse for 2.5 years. I have witnessed many beautiful, spiritual experiences. I am not a religious person but I do have my own personal beliefs. One thing is for sure-I witness too many unexplainable occurances to think that there is not another side. Medically and scientifically, there is no proof or fact based data that explains such similar stories from people around the world. No matter the age, diagnosis, religion, gender or past experiences, people report similar events at the time of death. I feel that if you are open to the possibility, you will encounter some of these miraculous acts. I feel like there is a definite time when someone is in between the two worlds- the one as we know it and the one that we are unable to comprehend. I find it very comforting when a patient sees familiar faces from their past. They seem to get a glimpse of something that we cannot understand. In many cases, fear subsides and peace is achieved. My spirituality has grown so much as a result of being open to the possibilities. I have learned the importance of living through the dying. I enjoy reading other people's experiences. I know that I am not alone. Keep up the good work, folks! jansgalRN
