What are common questions asked and proper responses...

I just got a home health position. Well it's a program for teen moms. In their homes. Anyway I was asked a lot of how would you react to certain situation questions. How would you react if client had no food, etc would you go buy them some? The answer is no because of boundaries and how to enforce them obviously. I will have 28 clients a month and i cant do that for all of them. The relationship needs to be strictly professional. Umm I was asked how would you handle a difficult client or one who schedules with you and isn't home when you go? I was asked how i would deal with difficult families? It was a long interview with alot of this situational, how would you react or how have you handled this is the past, kind of stuff. Not much about where do you see yourself in 5 years stuff. I was asked for weaknesses and strengths. I did good because I did get the job. But that's all I can remember. Maybe google nursing situational interview questions or home health situational questions. but ur interviewer may not go that route. Have ur resume and cover letter and any other relevant paperwork with you. Do your research and have a notebook with things written down about the company. Also make a list of questions to ask the interviewer. Like what qualities do ur best nurses possess? and what nurse has been here the longest and why do u believe she has been here that long. Etc. Good luck.

thanks RN chica..congratulations on the new job..how did you respond to handling a client whose not home when you arrive..

Try to knock, call, text. Any form of communication you can use to reach them. Then if you are getting nowhere go to your supervisor and coworkers for support on what to do. Our program is voluntary so more people are not available. Unlike home health when the patients are usually sick and really need you. Use past experiences in healthcare and previous jobs to relate. Think about stressful situations and how you handled them. That's a big one usually. And now that I thought about it they did ask me the 5 yr question. Gear it towards your new job. Like say you hope to have mastered the home health industry etc. good luck. Let me know how it goes.

Oh and thanks. I love my new job :)

The again chica....I got d job.......

Congrats. What kind of questions did they ask? Maybe to help someone else who might look at this post. :)
