HESI FAIL fundamentals exit exam

Nursing Students HESI

Published

I'm a second semester, 1st year student in a very rigorous and top 3 in the state as far as Nursing Program 4 year, 2 year. My first semester I received all A's and this semester am hoping to get a B in Med Surg and an A in OB. I received a 772 on my HESI and was freaking devastated. But then I realized the test doesn't even matter one, and why are we taking a "fundamentals" test after being focused on critical care and much, much more difficult subjects? I totally over thought everything. Did I felt like a dumb *** at first, yes but then I realized who cares about the HESI test. What really matters is how well you are doing in class, do you have heart for nursing as well as the skills and how well do you interact with your patient's and provide the care they need. Don't let it get you down. You know where you stand and if you don't by know you soon will. You can't be perfect at everything and my downfall is that I tend to over think things. But I rather have a nurse that has critically thinking skills and doesn't just know it's important to tell someone"to dry someones extremities after a bath"...I think they know that and what RN has time to oversee someone else. Know when I go to do my head to toe assessment and the person is chapped well then that's another story but until that happens I'm gonna worry about my role as a Nurse and what I need to do for that person hoping everyone else has the person's best interest in mind as well.

Do your best, work hard, and remember what Nursing is really about, and why is was your calling:)
