    G'day folks.

    I am going to take two 3 month assignments as an ED Nurse in Oahu, after having lived in mainland USA for the last 2 years (I am from Australia) and need help from anyone who can advise about living in Hawaii. I am specifically wondering if I should take my car over by sea from California or whether the current transportation around Honolulu will suffice? I guess I am also wondering if it is feasible to take a bus to work for an 11 Pm shift start where a car would seem the best way to go? Are bicycles really an option on this island??

    Please reply if you have any information about this, it will really help me to decide what to do.

    Aloha Wendy. The bus system here is one of the best and goes all over the island. The 11pm shift will be no problem. It might be good to have a car though depending on where you will be staying as you can travel at will to visit the sights. Balance that against the cost of shipping your car over. I have lived in Honolulu and Kapolei and just moved to Waianae on the leeward side of the island. I still work in Honolulu but drive my own car. There is also little in the way of parking especially if you are used to the wide open spaces like Texas and Australia! What hospital will you be at?

    I am using O'grady Peyton and at this stage no suitable positions seem to be available though the search will be on from t-minus 8 weeks. I still have 10 weeks of my current assignment left here in California. I am definitely not interested in Night duty which is a limiting factor for Hawaii as there always seem to be Night duty placements. As for the hospital, I have absolutley no idea, or local knowledge of Oahu, but OGP have done an very good job so far for me. Wendy

    ALOHA! Iam a RN from the UK desperately trying to get back to Hawaii to work. I am also with OGrady Peyton, but not on the travel nurse programme, I'm looking for permanent work there, dont care what shifts or department... they say there are no positions available, but Im sure there must be something for me there... plenty of job vacancies which would be suitable but OGP say only travel nurse contracts.... has anybody gone there with OGP on a permanent contract?? to which hospital? help please... OGP drive me insane!!

    have you any idea which hospitals have permanent staff through O Grady peyton? desperate to get there as an RN but they say no suitable positions??
