hello all!

i have a few questions for those of you who have attended COT for the USAF. ( they may seem silly but i've had all the real questions answered so all i have left are the silly ones)

1. How long is it?

2. Ok so i know you share a room, but do you share a shower with your room mate or are there floor showers? Is there a set shower schedule?

3. I noticed that after morning conditioning you only have like and hour and a half to take a shower, eat breakfast, and get to class/training. So could you keep granola bars in your room to eat for breakfast to save time in order not to be late?

4. So i heard at basic training for enlisted they arent allowed hair dryers/ straighteners or any hair products. are you allowed them at COT? its not that i am vain its just i have frizzy hair naturally and the fact that its shorter makes it no better, so i just want to know know if i should grow it our to put up or if i can keep it short.

5. like basic are you arranged in a consistant flight that you are with the whole time or do the just continuously break you up in to new groups?

6. the website says to register your car if you drive. so does that mean after the first weekend you can drive on/off base during the weekends?

7. are the dorm rooms set up alot like air university?

thats all! sorry these are just questions that you think of when your bored and rather know now then wait to be surprised.

Hi there,

I have not yet attended COT but I am in the process of preparing. Here is an amazing website that can answer many of your questions.

http://www.airforceots.com/portal/index.php

Many previous COT graduates still visit the site and I have met several people that have been very helpful in answering my questions. Word to the wise, read the directions for becoming a member, post an introduction (as stated in the directions), and be sure to use the "search" function before posting questions--there are people on the site that will blast you for asking questions that have already been posed and answered in the forum.

You'll be amazed at the good information you can find there!

you have given me the best present ever!! i havent found the answers yet but i have found so much on this site that i didnt even realize i wanted to know!! thanks again!

I assure you that you will spend many, many hours scouring the site. I can't even tell you how much it has helped me. Best of luck!!!

1. 4.5 wks

2. I don't know about the room situations now. When I went we stayed in TLF while they were building/remoldeling the COT dorms.

3. When I went to COT we all had to go to meals together whether you chose to eat or not. 1.5 hrs should be plenty of time for anyone to get ready, if it isn't you might have to reprioritize your morning routine some or get up earlier....it is COT not enlisted basic training there is no comparison between the two..lol.

4. lol....see #3...and I'm so glad that I am a guy and don't have to worry about those things.

5. You will be arranged into flights the entire time.

6. Usually, after the 1st week/weekend you are allowed offbase.

7. Don't know what they are like now.

My best advice is not to sweat COT. Study your OIs that are available on the website. The OIs will be your 1st test. Take a computer and printer if at all possible. You will be writing 1-2 small papers a week, and then presenting a small power point presentation at the end of your classroom time.
