Questions about Air force and navy Mental health nursing

I'd like to start out by saying thank you in advance for any help.

I have read most of the threads on here I could find about this specifically, and still had some questions.

To start, I currently have 2 years of mental health nursing experience (I have my BSN). I will likely have 3 years experience before I commit to any military contract, and may have my Psych CNS cert. I had several questions regarding both branches.

1: This may change with position and where I'm stationed, but what is the work schedule like? Are the shifts similar to hospital shifts, and are they typically 8hr or 12hr shifts? Does one typically request either day/evening/night shift or rotate?

2: what is the typical work environment if/when deployed as a Mental health nurse? Do responsibilities change, working condition specifics. This one will be more specific air force vs navy I'm guessing.

3: Is it common with a specific discipline (Mental Health nursing) to be more likely to have say in where I am stationed? (I know there are no guarantees)

4: Is there a difference with pay/benefits with the Mental health nurse specialty that is different than going in as an O1 with a different job position?

5: Based on personal experience: What have you encountered as far as level of trust/respect for psychiatric/mental health treatment from patients or other military personnel?

6: Do you personally enjoy serving in the military in this capacity (as a Mental Health nurse)? Why or why not?

Thank you again!
