Overseas civilian D.O.D. nurses question?

I'm writing to see if there are any civilian D.O.D. nurses working overseas.

I've been applying 3 years for an overseas assignment. So far, have only had two interview, and one job offer (had to decline, due to a family emergency). Presently working for the V.A. and have 30 years' experience as a psych nurse.

Have heard some stories about force downsizing of military nurse's. Is this affecting the availability of civilian jobs, or are these jobs just that difficult to get?

Any insight is greatly appreciated. About ready to give up.

I was active duty Air Force- most of these contracts are going away due to the loss of need for civilians to fill positions that were left by military nurses due to war- we are technically no longer in an active conflict so those specific contracts have been taken away. The GWOT contract is one in particular.

Sorry, don't know what the GWOT means.

Been searching on Jobs USA, looking for intergovernmental transfer.

GWOT= global war on terror that employs most civilians in MTFs. This contract allowed the budget for civilian nurses to be hired in military facilities, MTFs. Since we are no longer in an active conflict there is not as large a need for civilian nurses.
