Hospital Corpsman in Navy

Hi guys, I know this is a nursing website but thought some of you may have experience/know something about the Hospital Corpsman position. My question is what are the chances of getting this rate? I am female and know that it is a well sought after rate. I'm confident I can get the asvab score because I took the asvab before and did well on it. After that what are the chances of getting the job? Would there be more slots if I went to meps in the beginning of the fiscal year in October? I do not mind a long wait time. If the job is not available when I go to meps, is it possible to wait until it is open?

What does the recruiter say? My son just joined the army. I was surprised that the recruiter was able to see the actual jobs available for him and slot my son for what he wanted when he when to MEPS. If you let the recruiter what you want, he can see if you qualify. And then give you clear guidance as to when that slot may be come available.

Go see your recruiter, you're not committed until you actually sign. No risk.

If you want it and are willing to wait then you will get it. Just a matter of time. Don't be fooled into doing something and cross rating over. The rate is over manned and the advancement rate is low. If you make it clear to your recruiter they will help you. Just like someone said they can see what rates are open and what will be open in the near future. Best of luck.
