can I apply for the Navy NCP if in the Navy Reserves?

I enter college next year and I know the NCP only covers the last two years at most. I was thinking of joining the Navy reserves to help pay for college the first two years, would I still be able to apply for the NCP?

When I was a nurse recruiter in 2009-2011, there was a program called HM to BSN program. If you join the Reserves, you must be an HM (hospitalman/corpsman) to meet program requirements. Best thing to do is go to navy.com and find a link called "find a recruiter". Enter your zip code and then contact an officer programs recruiter for the "officer" reserves and ask them if that program still exists. Even though it may currently exist now, in two years or when you get your ASN, it MAY no longer be. I know when I left recruiting, nurses were in high demand, so I figure the program will be around for a while. Best of luck. Mike

I forgot to add, if you did want to go NCP, which is an active duty program, you would need to be released from the reserves. Not so easy to do before your reserve contract is up. The NOSC CO (Navy Operational Support Center Commanding Officer) would need to release you. Since Navy to Navy, he/she might be willing. Again, best to check with a current officer recruiter for current program guidance.
