by Flaresplitz Mar 19Ok I am wanting to apply for the NECP program, but i dont know where to start with the schooling. I am married and have two kids and stationed in SD. These are some questions that I can not find surfing the interent, i was wondering if you can help me out.
1. Will the Air Force pay you to move to the college that you get accepted to?
2. What type of nurse will you come out into the air force as?
3. Will I still get paid as enlisted while going to school? and if so what rank?
4. Is this a very competitive program? If so what is the actual GPA of the people getting in the program with?
Thank You

I just graduated last year, and I was in the NECP during school.
1.) You should try to find a school that is near your current base or close to a base with a medical treatment facility so you will only have one PCS.
2.) When you graduate the AF will allow you to choose either Med-Surg or OB.
3.) You will get paid your current rank through out school unless your a SrA. SrA will get SSgt pay during school. I was a TSgt so I got my base pay, BAH, & BAS throughout school.
4.). It is competitive to get into nursing school. My GPA was 3.85.
Hope this helps! - Mar 19 by FlaresplitzSee this is my dilemma, i do live near only one college that is nationally credited, but it does not have an AFROTC attachment. Im wondering if I could take classes (doesnt matter where) of those classes that are in needed (gen psy, anatomy, microbiology...) and make sure that they transfer to a set of colleges that I will attempt to be accepted to. If the move is out of pocket i understand. But just wondering if the air force will relocate you for schooling. thank you for the response
- Mar 19 by Jessica SHow do you like being an Air Force nurse? I'm currently applying this year for NECP
Flare- if you look up the NECP AFMKS website (must be on gov't computer to access), they have guidelines of what exactly is required, FAQ & there's also a Facebook page that has helped me a lot! Are there any schools that have a crosstown agreement with a ROTC detachment? The detachment doesn't have to be located there, you just have to have a crosstown agreement. - Mar 19 by FlaresplitzI was able to look at the guidelines (the one that needed a CaC card) of what a qualifying school is and what is requied for the application. Found the Facebook and requested to join the group, thank you for pointing that out. I don't even have an AFROTC crosstown agreement college near me either. I am in the middle of nowhere (South Dakota).
- Mar 19 by Jessica SThat's a huge bummer about no schools close by
. I know once you've been added to the group, if you use the magnifying glass to search some keywords from your questions, you might find answers or you can also ask, everyone is very polite & helpful
I only have one school in my area within 60 miles, didn't try for others bc we're mil to mil & I know they don't guarantee he would get orders to my school, so being separated for 2+ years wasn't an option I wanted to try for, with two small kids. Have you started pre-reqs? I know there are some great grants & scholarships out there to help with the cost too! I hope this helps
