Wanted to open up a thread on any Soldiers who are or potentially are slotted for the 15 JUL 2013 date for BOLC. Good way to network so that you go in with some idea of who your with.

I am a AECP Soldier and if I continue to track right with graduation from Nursing will be in this class (my course ends in May and NCLEX shortly after). This is what my squad leader told me anyway.

Background on me, been in the Army AD for 8 years as a medic/eye tech. Currently living in Houston going to school. Will be going in BOLC as a new grad so am anxious to get to know some seasoned Nurses out there. Wife and 4 kids who will be in Houston during my training.

So, anyone?

You might want to pump your brakes a little first. You will need to graduate, take your NCLEX, be approved for commission and then you can begin to look at a BOLC date. This is the Army, you might want to plan on being there next fall of possibly next spring. Not trying to bust your bubble, but I think a 2mo time frame is a bit ambitious and the slots for BOLC will certainly not be available only a couple of weeks out...assuming you pass the NCLEX. Best of luck.

If I am not mistaken, Ncox was already picked from the AECP boards, and already has been chosen fo r the ANC.

So as stated before, anyone else slotted? I'm going to be there for JUL 15th.

I will be there as well. I was in BOLC previously in February but got injured so I was held over until I got all healed up. So where will you be stationed after BOLC?

I'm going to Tripler in Hawaii. You? When you see me there I will either be SGT Cox or 2LT Cox, either way you will have to look real hard cause I'm going to be wearing cammo...

I will staying here at Fort Sam after BOLC. I have been a nurse almost 5 years but no military background. I want to get into critical care and eventually do the CRNA program. Is there an area of nursing you want to specialize in?

I use to work in the ER as a Medic at Madigan up in Washington State. That experience gave me the motivation to go to nursing school. I would be happy with either the ICU or ER. I'm a new grad so will be looking to LT's like you to show me the ropes. I've been doing the Army thing for 9 years and plan to ride it out for the full 20 ending with NP school. That's the end goal anyway.
