U.S.A. Georgia

I know it is still early, but thought it would be nice to start a new thread for the Fall 2013 ASN students on here. Which campus you will be attending and where you are commuting from? I will be at the Gainesville campus and live in Jasper.

Thanks guys but I still can't find it =/ Could you paste the link? I'm part of the NGCSU group-not sure if they have a UNG one or not

Try this facebook.com/groups/650077405020527/ and if it doesn't work. Tell me your name on FB and I can add you or have Bethany add you to the group.

Awesome thanks! I added it!

Great!

Hi I'm new to this website and I've been accepted into UNG nursing program starting this fall. I'm going to attend forsyth campus.

I'm done with all core classes except microbiology. I am confused if I should take micro during the first nursing semester or should I wait till second year???

Any kind of suggestion is greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

Welcome shahin92! I have finished my pre req's so I don't have advice on the micro, but I bet your advisor would! My guess is that classes get harder and more time consuming the further in we get in...can you take it during summer semester when we are out? We have a group on FB as well for UNG ASN program.

Can't wait to meet you at orientation! Just a few weeks....

You can ask your advisor this question when you are getting advised the day of orientation. I think that you have to take med micro no later than your first semester of the second year but I could be wrong. Honestly, I'd take it as soon as possible or next summer, as 2nd year is very, very hard and I'd advise you to not take any classes other than nursing classes 2nd year. I had classmates take med micro first semester of 2nd year and it was very hard for them. Most people either had it done before they started nursing school or took it during the summer between 1st and 2nd year.

I'm just finishing up Med Micro this summer. I heard it was really tough and wanted it out of the way before I started Nursing Classes. Talk to your advisor, but if it were me, I'd take it before the classes got progressively harder. If you wait until the last moment they will make sure you get into a class. The class is hard, but it's interesting and I learned alot.

BTW, I'm at Forsyth too... look forward to meeting you.

I would take it during the summer. If I have to take it again (I took it years ago) than I will be taking it in the summer. I'm not taking any science classes with my nursing classes and definitely not the second year.

If you have FB we started a class website! I'll be at the Forsyth campus as well

Thanks all for suggestion!

My problem is I'm going to India next summer so cannot take micro next summer. :( so do y'all think first semester has lesser work load compared to the rest?? And also, what will be weekly schedule in first semester??

I just joined FB group!! Excited to see y'all at orientation! :)

First semester is much easier than second semester, and first year is easier than second year.

First semester you will have check offs which will take time, but nothing like pharmacology in second semester.

Schedule first semester -

Class on Monday morning - then your clinical day will be either Wednesday or Friday.

You should find out your day at orientation.
